DIY Holiday Gift Wrapping

Grab a hot chocolate, turn up the Christmas tunes, and get comfy… It’s time to wrap presents! Shopping for holiday gifts for loved ones is a lot of fun, but we take just as much joy in creative, beautiful gift wrapping!

We enlisted the help of Calgary DIY-specialist, blogger and artist Lacey Haskell of Feathering My Nest to create some customized holiday gift wrapping ideas for the holidays!

fall nails with The Canadian Quaintrelle

One of our favourite Calgary bloggers, the gorgeous Hilary of The Canadian Quaintrelle, came to our Mission location ready to transition her nails from her summery pinks to a more neutral fall palette to go with her favourite seasonal plaids and knits. After her mani, she shopped our new fall accessories and found a fringe-y statement necklace and a carry-all clutch to complete her look! Check out her blog post about us for more fun fall fashion inspiration.

fresh for fall

Fall is a time of transition and change – and the most amazing time of the year for fashion in my opinion! There’s no shortage of hair, nail, makeup and outfit inspiration from New York Fashion Week and the supersized editions of Vogue, Bazaar and Elle adorning my coffee table.

We watched the fall 2015 runways and fell in love with 70’s inspired collections and boho jewellery. We kept these trends in mind during our buying trips as we hunted for frilly lilly’s fall pieces.

Some of our favourites for fall that you’ll find in-stores now:

  • fringed clutches
  • chic wool hats
  • cozy blanket scarves
  • gold midi-rings
  • long necklaces with whimsical charms (perfect for layering over a sweater or t-shirt)
  • new fall nail colours, from subtle nudes to rich reds that put us in the mood for a glass of wine: shades of burgundy, merlot and pinot noir

We’re most excited to pair these accessories with a pair of flared jeans, which are back for fall! A dark wash flare is not only flattering, but they pair perfectly with a classic Frye stacked heel ankle bootie. A few of my favourite pieces from frilly lilly Mission:
