What is Putchipuu? So glad you asked!
During one of my recent buying trips to Los Angeles, I met the lovely founders of Putchipuu, Giovanni and Todd. I fell in love with the bags, and just had to share the compelling story behind them.
Every bag is handmade by the women of the Wayyu tribe in Colombia, using traditional, intricate weaving techniques. The production and sale of the bags has created a new independent and socially conscious economy with the aim of supporting women and their families. You can read their full story here.
The bags are now available in Victoria, Santa Monica and select Calgary boutiques. I hope you love them as much as I do!
Eyebrows are like a frame for your beautiful face. Whether you’ve got bold natural brows or barely-there blondies, they can have a huge impact on your look.
We absolutely love providing brow waxing and tinting services to our clients. Even if you don’t think you have any hairs to spare, our brow consultants will work their magic to help you design a look you’ll love.
Our friend and blogger Hilary of The Canadian Quaintrelle walked us through her brow routine with our esthetician Katie. Check out how she keeps her brow game strong here.

We love to make everyone who walks into frilly lilly feel pampered and spoiled! But we understand that sometimes, when you have a moment to yourself, it’s nice to pour a cup of tea, grab your favourite magazine and do some quiet at-home pampering.
Our talented friend, Victoria blogger Laura of Laura Jane Atelier, let us in on some of her at-home beauty routines that help keep her nails and skin soft and smooth in between her frilly lilly manis and pedis. Plus, we love her beautiful bathroom and adorable vintage finds. Check out her blog post here!
One of our favourite Calgary bloggers, the gorgeous Hilary of The Canadian Quaintrelle, came to our Mission location ready to transition her nails from her summery pinks to a more neutral fall palette to go with her favourite seasonal plaids and knits. After her mani, she shopped our new fall accessories and found a fringe-y statement necklace and a carry-all clutch to complete her look! Check out her blog post about us for more fun fall fashion inspiration.
Fall is a time of transition and change – and the most amazing time of the year for fashion in my opinion! There’s no shortage of hair, nail, makeup and outfit inspiration from New York Fashion Week and the supersized editions of Vogue, Bazaar and Elle adorning my coffee table.
We watched the fall 2015 runways and fell in love with 70’s inspired collections and boho jewellery. We kept these trends in mind during our buying trips as we hunted for frilly lilly’s fall pieces.
Some of our favourites for fall that you’ll find in-stores now:
- fringed clutches
- chic wool hats
- cozy blanket scarves
- gold midi-rings
- long necklaces with whimsical charms (perfect for layering over a sweater or t-shirt)
- new fall nail colours, from subtle nudes to rich reds that put us in the mood for a glass of wine: shades of burgundy, merlot and pinot noir
We’re most excited to pair these accessories with a pair of flared jeans, which are back for fall! A dark wash flare is not only flattering, but they pair perfectly with a classic Frye stacked heel ankle bootie. A few of my favourite pieces from frilly lilly Mission:
Whether I’m in Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria, or Santa Monica, I can be certain that one of our boutiques is not far from a wonderful restaurant, bakery, or cafe. This makes getting to know our neighbours an exceptionally fun part of the job, and rest assured I’ve been devoting lots of time to this project this summer. Here are some of my favourite finds.
Farmshop, Santa Monica
Choosing a pastry here is the hardest part of my morning. Spotting a celebrity is almost a guarantee.
Chorizo & Co, Victoria
A spanish deli so good they don’t need a website. This breakfast sandwich is a wonderful way to start the day.
Cafe Medina, Vancouver
This is the best brunch in Vancouver, and worth the hour-long average wait.
A friend and I shared a Moscow Mule and a Raspberry Mojito here during a patio brunch. I’ve been back for dinner more times than I can count.
Yann Haute Patisserie, Calgary
Best. Macarons. Ever.

If you live in Calgary, we’re betting that today you’ve already donned a pair of cowboy boots and eaten some free pancakes. The Stampede is here, and this year we’ve all resolved to raise the bar when it comes to Western wear. Borrowing a few ideas from increasingly influential festival fashion, we’ve picked a few of our favourite accessories from frilly lilly Mission.
Many of these pieces are available at our other Calgary boutiques. Be sure to stop in and see what the most up to date selection is.
